Celebrate - Change of Plans

Oh, don't worry. I'm still counting down to the big 1600 post.
I'm referring to my changing the eagle for the second Veterans quilt.
I finished highlighting the eagle, changed his brow & stood back for a look-see.

But when I auditioned it at the top of the quilt, I didn't like the proportions one bit. So back to the drawing board.
The quilt needs a narrower eagle.
I came up with one in flight. Now on to my stash of fabric to pick just the right colors.

Much better, don't you think?
I needed wording and Mr. Cowboy came up with "Freedom Isn't Free"
I like the way that sounds.
I've auditioned it above the scrappy quilt & it looks good. Now to figure out how I want to attach it. Maybe a strip between the quilt and eagle.

Not a very good photo but another quilt top finished!! I might try to take a better pic this weekend.
Now, for the first winner of the FQ.
The Left-Handed Quilter/favorite color at the moment RED!!
BTW, if you don't here from me after you leave your comments, please know that sometimes I just can't get to everyone. But I do read all comments and am so appreciative of everyone's time.
Alrighty, leave a comment, mention your favorite color to win a fat quarter.

I know you are going to use that first eagle for another project. He is so perfect. The Eagle in flight is a better choice for this one.

Favorite color?? so much easier to say what color I DON'T like. Today my favorite color is Sea Green.

now you can use the first eagle as a starting point for another quilt. Ha ha. Today, I will say Caribbean Blue.

Oh, I WON!! THANK YOU!! - ;))

I like your new eagle - and agree that the proportion is much better. Mr. Cowboy's wording is perfect!

Today my favorite color is Orange - ;))

I like the new eagle better on this project, but I do love the first eagle. I can't wait to see where you use it.

Still yellow.

I loved the original eagle, but you are right - it didn't quite work with the quilt....this one is much better. For some reason the eagle face tells me that he would like to be surrounded by feathers...not that I have ANY clue of what would be best!!

Still like blue and purple!

I really admire how you can come up with all these wonderful designs. I like the eagle and Mr. Cowboys' wording is perfect. It is very beautiful.

I have been away for a while because of Hurricane Irma. She came in on Monday and took everything out--Electricity,phone,internet,and water. We just got it back this afternoon. She did so much damage and we only got part of her. I am so glad we didn't get the full force of her.

My favorite color is green--any color.

I like both of your eagles but the second one is really realistic. Orange is still the favorite.

Yes, I like the second eagle a lot. The other one will work on something else.
